Apple to ship new iPhones in early Sept. – report

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) — Apple Inc. is planning to have its main manufacturing partner in China begin shipping two new iPhone models in early September, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal on Monday afternoon. The company has asked Hon Hai Precision to begin shipping a new high-end version of the iPhone as well as a lower-end version designed for emerging markets. Previous reports have Apple as holding its launch event for the new iPhones on Sept. 10, and the company has typically began selling its new devices within two weeks of the launch events. Apple’s shares were last trading up 1.7% to $510.82 by early Monday afternoon.
